Bhayander (Gurudatta Wakdekar) : Adarsh XI of Panvel won the grand finale of third edition organized by Mumbai Tennis Cricket Association. Total 96 teams had registered for the tournament, which was played on a station cricket basis. Total 1056 players were able to prove their skills in this tournament. The credit goes to Raju Patil, Chief Advisor, Mumbai Tennis Cricket Association, Umesh Manjrekar, President, Chandrakant Shinde, Secretary, Suresh Rana, Treasurer and all the office bearers.
Praveen Tambe, who played for IPL’s Rajasthan Royals Team, was a special guest at the Badshah Stadium in Bhayander, Navghar to encourage young players. During the reception while interacting with the youth, Praveen said that while on the field, give your one hundred percent contribution. Cricket is not a solitary sport but a team sport. Your contribution will help your team to remain undefeated. Asked about his hat-trick in the IPL, he said, “I am more happier that our team was able to win that match.”
Secretary Chandrakant Shinde, thanked all the teams. He politely mentioned that the Mumbai Tennis Cricket Association is trying to act as the apex body of cricket, the Mumbai Cricket Association. He also expressed his intention to hold more grand competitions in the coming time. With the help of Gurudatta Wakdekar, the team from Wockhard Hospitals was present throughout the day with their ambulance to keep the players safe. “This is an important day for tennis cricket as this is the first time such an incident has taken place in the western suburbs,” he said.
The first prize went to ‘Adarsh XI, Panvel’ and the second prize went to ‘SK, Arnala Virar’. The ‘Jitu Packer, Bhayander’ team got the disciplined team award. The best player of the tournament was Adarsh XI, Akshay Pawar of Panvel while the best player of the final was Adarsh XI, Mayur Mahanor of Panvel. The best batsman award went to Kritish XI, Andheri’s Rohan Salunkhe, the best bowler award went to SK, Arnala Virar’s Rahul Patil and the best fielder award went to Jay Ambe, Girgaon’s Rishabh Darji.
Karunakar Kotian and Amol Vetoskar officiated the match impartially. Rajesh Solanki, who is skilled in arranging marks in an accurate and disciplined manner, proved useful. Police inspectors Rajesh Khopkar alias Monty and Manish Patil, who could easily spell the words correctly, commented on the timing of the competition.
